Take a moment and try to think back to those lazy Saturday mornings in the eighties during a time before computer technology prompted far too many cartoons on television to take a step backwards rather than forwards. This was the time of the Gummi Bears. Aside from the catchy theme song that will forever be imprinted into my brain the show had a certain magic to it that you don't see in many cartoons today. Who could forget Grammi, Cubbi, Zummi, Gruffi, Sunni, and Tummi bear? Duke Igthorn and his gang of bumbling ogres were always up to something rotten in Gummi Glenn and it was up to the Gummi bears, with a little help from the young boy, Cavin, to keep the forest as well as Dunwyn Castle out of danger. And who didn't imagine what it would be like to ride in one of the hawk-shaped cars in the quick tunnels beneath the woods? The Gummis made saving the day look pretty easy at times. Of course, gummiberry juice always came in handy whenever they needed the ability to bounce uncontrollably all over the place. It was also nice that the juice gave Cavin, as well as any other human who drank it, superhuman strength for a brief amount of time too.
Gummi Bears, bouncing here and there and everywhere. High adventure that you can't compare. They are the Gummi Bears. They are the Gummi Bears! That was my favorite cartoon growing up. I always wished that I could find some gummiberry juice. It always looked so tasty.
ReplyDeleteI personally am too young to remember the gummi bears, but I am happy to say that I have seen the reruns and such. And Dad, someday, I promise I will find you some gummiberry juice. Tasty... It will be.
ReplyDeleteIan once mentioned how, whenever he listened to the theme song, he would start to think about how the guy who sang it really sounded like he was giving his all. He'd picture him in the studio just singing his heart out about the Gummi Bears, and do you know what? That's kind of hilarious.
